The CFA has been active nationally, representing the interests of persons living with HIV/AIDS in Houston and in general. The CFA staff has attended numerous national and international conferences, participated in meetings sponsored by the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration, and played an advocacy role with pharmaceutical companies that conduct research on HIV/AIDS. Staff members are also active with ATAC, the AIDS Treatment Activists Coalition.

The CFA staff recognize the importance of research in the search for a cure for AIDS and repeatedly emphasize the urgency of bringing research and treatments to Houston.
